5 THINGS BLOGGING HAS TAUGHT ME

I've only been blogging a short while, but I feel as though I've learnt so much, not just about myself but about other people, so I thought I'd impart some of my wisdom onto you.

1. THE BLOGGING COMMUNITY.

I have to say, I didn't expect such a warm welcome from the blogging community. I have no idea why?! I suppose I didn't know about blogger chats and I didn't realise that literally everyone is lovely. I'm yet to come across anyone who is nasty. It's so refreshing to be able to speak in depth to people who have very similar interests and hobbies to me - I was so surprised at how welcome I felt. I really feel like I've made a lot of supportive friends.

2. PHOTOGRAPHY EQUIPTMENT.

I realised early on that you don't NEED a super fancy schmancy camera to progress in blogging. I reached 5000 pageviews quickly and I was just using a digital camera and my iPhone. I will admit, I did give in and buy a fancy DSLR (Canon 500d) because I wanted to feel more like a blogger. Silly, right?! I'm still learning and trying to figure out how to actually use it (some lovely bloggers have offered me lots of help) but the one piece of advice I always tell newbie bloggers (not that they can get much more newbie than me) is that you do not need a big fancy camera. All you need is good lighting and clever editing.

3. OOTD'S ARE AWKWARD.

When I started blogging, I was very much a beauty blogger. I was fine admiring fashion bloggers, I knew there was no way I could recreate their effortlessly candid photos and I was okay with that. But one day, a change of heart. I decided to try an OOTD. I enlisted my sister to take pictures and I will tell you right now, that shit is awkward. Trying to do candid poses, or any pose, is just so painfully embarrassing! My sister was super game to take pictures and frequently asks me if she can take more, but now I prefer to use a tripod. It's a lot easier to flounce around and pretend there's no picture being taken if it's not actually a human taking said picture.

4. BLOGGING IS TIME CONSUMING.

I will admit, I didn't think blogging would take up as much time as it does. Rookie mistake, I know. It doesn't mean I don't love it though, it just means I need to start planning a little better. There have been a few occasions where I've had to rush photos or rush write my posts, but thankfully I don't think you can tell. I took a blogging break over the weekend and I'm really struggling to get back into it! Any tips would be greatly appreciate it!

5. IT WILL BANKRUPT YOU.

This one maybe only applies to me but since I started blogging I have spent money on so much! I see new releases and I think "oh, they'd be perfect to review!" or I see an item of clothing and think "that would look amazing paired with this for an OOTD!". It's a dangerous cycle and now I'm having to go on a spending ban. Looks like I'll just have to find alternative things to blog about for now! I'm actually hoping to expand more into lifestyle blogging so this might force me to do so! If anyone has written anything on lifestyle post ideas, I'd love to read!

So there's 5 things that blogging has taught me so far. What has it taught you?
